Maria am Knie Pilgrimage Shrine

Highlight • Religious Site

Small pilgrimage shrine above the roaring Trettach Gorge, which rushes through the narrow passage approx. 70m below. Very narrow and partly damp path with slippery stones in this section of the path.

The bridge does what it is supposed to do: it takes you from one side of the path to the other 😉

Sperrbachtobel

Highlight • Gorge

Here it is very slippery especially after heavy rains and you should definitely use the steel ropes to get hold of. Scenic enjoyment, imposing gorge, often to admire even in September with considerable snow masses.

Just a great first stage on the E5.

This bridge does not pose a particular challenge.

Only one person may walk on the bridge at a time. Otherwise it does what it is intended for: you can get from one side of the path to the other without getting wet 😉

July 13, 2023,Spielmannsau - Kemptner Hütte
Great mountain hike, mostly in pouring rain. Maybe that's why the breakdown of the enlistment. But I got back down to the bike. ;-)

The drying room in the Kemptner hut was unfortunately not in function and so our things were still soaking wet after yesterday's 5-hour tour through the rain. For this reason, we shortened today's tour from 9 hours to 6 and first climbed through the Sperrbachtobel into the valley. The many waterfalls and the light of the morning sun enchanted us.

The descent from the Kemptener Hütte to Spielmannsau took place in the pouring rain. Therefore there are no photos. The gullies in the path, some of which were heavily washed out, quickly turned into small streams. So this part was anything but pleasant. Nevertheless, it was a great tour that I will definitely do again😀

Unfortunately, it was already the last day😔 of the three-day hut tour: Descent from the Kemptner Hut through the Sperrbachtobel to the Spielmannsau.

After just a few meters downhill, the sun☀️ made it into the ravine, which still has a few quite impressive snow bridges. Water kept coming down the mountain from above, turning the narrow alpine path into a …

This is where the E5 hiking trail starts, from Oberstdorf across the Alps to Merano... I wanted to take a look. Over the Sperrbach gorge to the Kemptner Hut... Steadily uphill (900m elevation gain) through very varied terrain. Below, it's more like wild, green jungle, until you reach a rocky path, where small waterfalls and streams repeatedly cross the path, …

Always nice to walk, damn exhausting towards the end due to today's temperatures. Due to a thunderstorm with storm and hail, the descent went very quickly 🥵🥾

We take a small bus to Spielmannsau. From here we begin our ascent to the Kemptner Hütte, 1846 m. On the 800 meters of altitude that we will conquer today, we see lush mountain meadows, clear mountain streams and the first fascinating rock formations.
