Saint Denis Church

Highlight • Religious Site

With the Marian Year (1954: 3rd part of the "Messages of Mary") a Lourdes cave was built.
The city council gave its permission to build the cave on the grounds of the presbytery. For the construction of the cave, 25,000 kg of rock was brought from Spontin to Impe.
On October 24, 1954, the cave was opened by E.H. D'Hollander, Dean of Wetteren, consecrated.

Rabboutsmolen

Highlight • Monument

The Rabboutsmolen is a watermill from the 13th century on the Molenbeek in Lede. The mill remained in operation until 1968. Then the mill wheel was sold and they wanted to turn it into a catering business. Fortunately, a large part of the mill layout has been preserved.

An antique shop was established between 1995 and 2002. During that period, the water wheel was reconstructed. Since 2007, the mill has been made operational for the production of green electricity. A thorough restoration of the grain mill is planned.

Chapel of Hope for the Hopeless

Highlight • Religious Site

The Our Lady Hope of the Hopeless Chapel is a neo-Gothic neighborhood chapel, built in 1888. The chapel is used for Marian worship during the months of May and for praying the Rosary after a death. To this day, a mass is celebrated during the Heights Street Fair to commemorate deceased local residents. In 1984 the chapel was restored.
