Highlight • Settlement

In the afternoon of June 15, 1815, this church square was the scene of bloody fighting between the French and Prussians. Napoleon had to hold this village at all costs if he did not want to be surrounded. The Prussians were driven back twice. But they kept coming back. Towards the end of the day the village fell into their hands and Napoleon took the lead.

Prussian Monument
