Pilgrimage Church Allersdorf

Highlight • Religious Site

The pilgrimage church, which lies on a hill, can be reached via stairs on its north and south sides. Around the church is a small cemetery, surrounded by the 17th-century churchyard wall. On the south slope of the hill, the presbytery was built in 1845 in the Biedermeier style, a two-story building with a flat hipped roof.

At the foot of the hill, there are also ten baroque chapels of Mary, dedicated to various Marian festivals and forms of Marian devotion. They form a wreath around the pilgrimage church; only in the east and northeast, where the forest cover is denser, were no chapels built.

Abensberg Castle Ruins

Highlight • Castle

Abensberg Castle was first mentioned in 1256. The roughly rectangular layout of the outer castle is separated from the main castle by a deep moat. On the north and west side there are baroque buildings, former official buildings with gable roofs. The flanking tower on the northeast corner dates from the 13th / 14th Century. On the southern ring there is a late Gothic semicircular tower, next to it a head building with a mansard roof. After the destruction during the Thirty Years' War, only the remains of the 13th and 14th centuries are left of the main castle. Century. Remains of the ring wall, the flanking towers, the kennel and a hipped roof on the south side have also been preserved.

The city fortifications that were built in the 14th and 15th centuries were connected with the castle fortifications.

The castle garden is very nicely laid out
