Brunnsee

Highlight • Lake

The Brunnsee with its crystal clear water has no inflow. It is fed with water from the Hochschwab massif. After a long journey through the rock massif, the water reappears here from the lake floor. It is located in a nature reserve / spring protection area of the city of Vienna. Swimming and other leisure activities are not permitted here. But it is always worth seeing.

Rotmäuern Trail

Highlight • Trail

A steep zigzag ascent over an old hunting trail leads almost to the foot of the Rotmäuer wall. At the top, this trail uses a weak point on the edge of the Rotmäuer. From here it really gets down to business. It is almost unbelievable that a truly spectacular climb leads along this wall. Partly over aging ladders, partly new ropes, partly unsecured next to steep drops... everything is here. You come through wild, rugged terrain, sometimes over steep crags, to the lower end of the Riegerinalm, which then leads up to the Harrimanhütte.

Harriman Hut (1522 m)

One of the few rest areas on the way to Riegerin.

Riegerin (1939 m)

Highlight • Summit

The Riegerin with its 1939 m is a lonely mountain range in the north of the Hochschwab massif.

It is one of the rarely climbed mountains. The lonely, long and strenuous ascent is definitely worth it.

Brunntal - Brunnboden - Rotmäuer - Riegerinalm - Harrimanhütte - Bärengraben - Riegerin

A long, lonely and quite demanding summit tour with real high mountain character.
