Martinskirche Hochdorf

The current St. Martin's Church was rebuilt in 1774 on the site of a previous church that had been demolished due to dilapidation and was expanded. The interior design in the Baroque style with a richly decorated pulpit and organ gallery is noteworthy. In 1984, the interior was extensively restored in a new uniform color scheme while retaining the surrounding galleries. The year of construction was also proven to be 1774. In 1902, a new organ replaced the previous one from 1818. The tower dates from several eras. There was already a church tower clock in 1695. After a lightning strike in 1722, the tower received a newly built octagonal bell storey with a helmet on top. A comprehensive renovation with partial re-roofing took place in 2017, and the tower capsule was supplemented with current information about Hochdorf. The churchyard was a burial place for the villagers until 1843. Parts of the massive churchyard wall are still there
