The following hiking guide can be recommended as accompanying literature on this route:
"The Roman Canal Hiking Trail. How water learned to walk"
by Klaus Grewe and Manfred Knauff,
publisher Eifelverein eV (ISBN 978-3-944620-27-5).
"120 km in 7 stages on the route of the Roman aqueduct from Nettersheim to Cologne. This hiking guide is indispensable for a proper insight into the technology of ancient aqueduct construction and the variety of scenic and cultural treasures to the left and right of the Roman Canal Hiking Trail."

“Each of these crosses can tell its own story and what prompted people to erect “their” cross at this point. (...) These wayside crosses [here in the form of a memorial cross] were erected as visible signs and attract the attention of many people. The cross is a symbol of life. It stands as a sign of our Christian hope and wants to direct our gaze to Jesus Christ, who has overcome death (...). The cross is part of our life as it was in the life of Jesus. So I wish that many people … visit the crosses, whether as places of stillness and breathing space before God, whether as places for community gatherings, prayer and praise to God.”

Shot a lap above Alfter today. The parking lot, except for us, completely empty. Nobody far and wide. The -6°C are not exactly pleasant. However, the very cold wind made things 'uncomfortable'. ☝Principle of hope: in 48 hours it should be 2 digits in temperature.... plus....🤣🤣

Finally back with a larger group of Evo (Lül) at the replacement event of the Alfterer WLS.

Last Sunday at -6°C and hard-frozen terrain, hardly anyone was out. (except for the four-legged friends, but they 'have to' go out ☝). Today, with 16°C more, soft ground and light rain, our colorful bunch was absolutely alone in the forest. At the end I met a free running horse, but that made me cautious.

Sunday run in acceptable weather with Evo-Lül. At the end unplanned trail insert ☝🙈
