Zgötler Spring

Highlight • Natural Monument

On the route to Grabnergupf or the Gamseckwände there are only 2 springs, this is the first one to refill your water supplies. Use it, very refreshing

Gamsecker Hut (1328 m)

Highlight • Mountain Hut

It is not managed and belongs to the Gamsecker Alpine Society. The society was founded in 1890. The fact that we saw a chamois standing less than 50 meters away and that it was not afraid of people is probably what the name says. Even though it is not managed, if someone is there, you are always given a friendly welcome.

Gamseck Climbing Route

Highlight (Segment) • Climb

The wild Gamseck is a challenging free climb with a difficulty level of 2. There are no safety devices, but there are enough hooks to secure yourself with a rope. Experience in climbing and a good portion of determination and courage are required to master this very beautiful climbing tour. I can only recommend that you don't go alone the first time, you need several eyes to find the markings. The view is amazing and the reward for this very beautiful climb.

Hay dome

Highlight • Summit

At 2,007 meters, the Heukuppe is the highest peak on the Rax. It can be reached, for example, in a leisurely half-hour climb from the Karl-Ludwig-Haus. A stunning panorama awaits you up there. The sunrises and sunsets are also highly recommended. In winter, the gently sloping slopes invite you to beautiful ski tours and snowshoe hikes.

Zahmes Gamseck via ferrata

Highlight (Segment) • Climb

The Zahme Gamseck is a historically important alpine via ferrata with a difficulty level of A/B. There is hardly a better way to get to the Raxplateau - with a constant view of the nearby Schneealpe.

Nasskamm Pass (1,210 m)

Highlight • Mountain Pass

Here there are several options for continuing your hike. On the one hand, it goes down to Hinternasswald and on the other hand to Altenberg/Rax.
From the Nasskamm you can either ascend to the Rax or to the Schneealpe.

May 5, 2024,Auf die Rax übers wilde Gamseck, runter über das zahme Gamseck
Today I had my girlfriend with me and for her it was her first ascent of the wild Gamseck. With a short use of the rope, the wall was an experience for her too. Luckily there are enough hooks where you can secure yourself with the rope. Nevertheless, the wall is not for beginners.
