a must see if you are biking on the Martesana; you arrive in Cassano D'Adda and it is impossible not to see this huge wooden wheel with the ancient wash houses on the base.
In perfect working order.

Once you arrive in Cassano d'Adda, you can't help but admire the "rudon," a perfectly preserved and fully functional wooden wheel.
The ancient washhouse nearby is also beautiful.

Villa Borromeo, Cassano d'Adda

Highlight • Historical Site

The Villa, founded by the Milanese D'Adda family[1], after the transformations carried out during the 19th century by Giovanni D'Adda and Emanuele D'Adda, upon the latter's death in 1911 passed by inheritance[2] to the Borromeo d'Adda, hence the name of "Villa Borromeo" with which it later became better known.

In reality, it is a complex made up of two villas, one dating back to the mid-seventeenth century and the other (the Montagnola) founded by Abbot Ferdinando D'Adda between 1750 and 1760. There is also a valuable building , the stables, built at the end of the 19th century and recently restored by the Municipality of Arcore.

Following the death of Count Carlo Borromeo d'Adda in 1979, in 1980 the entire estate became the property of the Municipality of Arcore, which has since then used the entrance building to the park as the seat of the Municipality.

Since 2010 the stables have been a branch of the academic restoration course of the Brera Academy.

Restoration work began in 2016 to use the villa as a venue for future exhibitions; on the weekend of 25-26-27 May 2018, when the works were mostly completed, the villa on the hill was reopened to the public, with an inauguration ceremony and free guided tours.
