As a witness mountain (a single mountain in a layered landscape) of the Franconian Jura, the Hesselberg is geologically closely related to the Staffelberg (Lichtenfels district) or the Walberla (Forchheim district).

Tour link: fraenkisches-seenland.de/wege/hesselberg-tour-3035

A quick 4-hour morning tour with a city tour and a visit to the LGA grounds in wonderful, not too hot weather quickly turns into a night hike. But that's what happens when you discover a lot of new things... recommended, signposted route!

Thank you @Äxel - the great photos from your winter tour were the inspiration to finally visit the Hesselberg 🤗
So today we went to Wassertrüdingen to climb the highest mountain in Middle Franconia (689 m). After the journey by 🚆 would have been a bit complicated, the 🚘 had to do it. The ☀️, which had been laughing this …

I had transferred the tour from the following link as a GPX file to Komoot:

fraenkisches-seenland.de/wege/hesselberg-tour-3035

But the tour ended up going a little differently because we made a detour to Klingenweiherpark out of curiosity. From there we took a different route, found on the Komoot map, until we were back on the planned signposted route.

The hiking trail from Wassertrüdingen to Hesselberg is marked with a blue line on a white background. On the way back you can follow the 10 via Röckingen. It is worth stopping off at "Zum Brui" in Obermögersheim afterwards - delicious Schaschlick is always available on Saturdays and beer from Wettelsheim every day 😉
