View of the Elbe Floodplain at Bleckede Dike

Highlight • Viewpoint

The summer dike used to be located between Schützenplatz and the harbor - roughly where the main dike runs today. Part of the summer dike is still there when you walk from the castle towards Heisterbusch.

March 23, 2025,Rolling Home: Forever Young an der Elbe 2
A weekend like this also has a second day. My night at the Schützenplatz wasn't quite as restful. The world looks much better after breakfast, and I then took a short walk through the Elbe valley.

On the drive back from Bleckede to Lauenbrück, my radio is blaring the song "Forever Young." The Alphaville song was my sister's favorite.
Oh, …

A lovely hike following hinrich.heine's tip. UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. Absolute silence, lots of birds, three beavers, swans, herons. Eight dogs and five people. A fantastic end to the day at the Herr Biber castle café in Bleckede. Tastefully decorated, the castle itself beautifully renovated. Inside is the Biosphere Reserve, which I'll visit sometime.

@Wanderuli 🥾🎒⛺🚲's tours in their old homeland inspired us today to take this wonderful hike in the foreland near Bleckede. Parked the car in the hiking car park, we first went to Bleckede. A detour to the castle is worthwhile. For 2 euros you can, among other things, climb a tower with a beautiful view of the dike foreland when …

The way there through the Elbe meadows was nice to walk. Apart from a never-ending section between the dike and the forest, it was a nice tour overall 👍🏻

Elbe Valley biosphere reserve near Bleckede along the Elbe and the lowlands.
Luckily the thunderstorm didn't catch us on the way, it only got a little damp for the last half hour.
Great landscape, only one piece is on the Elbuferstraße and is not that exciting, but very quiet and only rarely a cyclist.
