In 1927/28 the Steinhelle hydroelectric power station was built and connected to the network. Operations ceased in 2000. The two turbines of Unit 1 were fed with water from the Ruhr and the Neger via long pipelines. The water was discharged into the Olsberg reservoir, where the Steinhelle 2 power plant is located.
