All around are still the old houses preserved. Not necessarily pretty to look at but originally, with food stalls etc. Real contrast to the newly built 'Altstadtbezirk' next door.

The old houses in the area are mostly closed and the first floor is completely sprayed grey in the streets around - a quite dystopic few. Probably the whole quarter will be replaced soon - hopefully the gate will be preserved.

Hiking

As of Jan 2024 the gate is still up and accessible. The surrounding houses and shops are closed and boarded up (since 2022) and waiting for re-development. Unclear if this will be demolishing and rebuilding as with many other neighborhoods, or if there are plans to restore this area and keep it 'historical' - as it was and surprisingly still is a touristic highlight.
