The Chapel was erected in 1847 by the Blanchet Family, paper industrialists. Its architecture was entrusted to Alfred Berruyer (a student of Viollet le Duc) who would later become the diocesan architect of Grenoble.

The building is a true testament to know-how in the use and implementation of materials: white limestone as ashlar for the steps, porch columns, bell tower spire and buttress bases, tuff for the aisle walls and apse, and molasse for the facade, buttresses, bay windows, cornice, and bell tower columns.
