The Hausen vor der Sonne estate (often called "Häuser Hof" by locals) is a historic estate and a presumed lowland castle about 3 kilometers northeast of Hofheim am Taunus. The area in the Taunus was likely coveted as early as Roman times and by the Franks, but direct evidence is lacking. The earliest written record dates back to 1350 in connection with the Fleming and Eppenstein families, with the estate belonging to the knight Heinrich Fleming at the end of the 13th century. Today, the estate is privately owned and still shows traces of moats on the grounds.
