Getting there early is worth it, but not to catch the pandas being active — even at 8am they’re already lying down and sleeping. The real reason to arrive early is to beat the queue: this is a popular spot, especially with Chinese tourists.
The advantage over the Chengdu Research Base is that here you can get a closer look at the pandas.
Strongly recommend booking at least one day in advance via Trip.com — there’s no ticket office on site, entry is online booking only.
