The Der Island Park & Wildlife Sanctuary in Alpena, Michigan, is a 17-acre natural oasis on the Thunder Bay River. The park is located at the corner of US-23 and Long Rapids Road. It offers approximately 1.3 kilometers of waterfront, scenic nature trails, a covered wooden bridge, and an accessible observation deck. The park features several miles of walking trails that wind through meadows, forests, sand dunes, and wetlands. Access to the island is via a pedestrian bridge connected to the adjacent Duck Park.
