Located in the municipality of Codrongianos, the Basilica of Santissima Trinità di Saccargia is the most representative monument of the Romanesque style in Sardinia. Built at the beginning of the 12th century, it stands out for its spectacular bicolor facade, the result of the alternation of white limestone and black basalt blocks, a characteristic inspired by Pisan Romanesque architecture. Inside, it preserves one of the few medieval Romanesque fresco cycles that have survived to this day on the island, while its slender bell tower dominates the landscape of the Saccargia plain.
