Borden is best known as the home of Canadian Forces Base (CFB) Borden, the largest military training facility in Canada. Established in 1916 as "Camp Borden" to prepare troops for the trench warfare of World War I, the area quickly evolved into a historic cornerstone for national defense. In 1917, it opened Canada's first military aerodrome, earning it a lasting reputation as the official birthplace of the Royal Canadian Air Force.
