1937 began with the construction of the route 46, the 170 km long Reichsautobahn from Bad Hersfeld to Würzburg. Because of the outbreak of World War II, the construction was discontinued. Since 2003, Germany's longest motorway ruin has been listed. Part of the course is still visible, or are still the bridge pillars.
