Dromkeen Wood was planted by Thomas Adderley in 1740. Thomas was the majority landowner of the area and he set up many of the industries here, including the prosperous linen mill. Thomas planted the woodland with contrasting trees so his name was written across the hillside overlooking the village.
Today there are a few paths through the woodland including the short but enjoyable Adderley Walk.
