Ajvatovika, a holy place of Muslim pilgrimage, the largest in Europe. During a severe drought in the 15th century, a wise man, Ajvaz Dedo, went to pray for 40 nights and 40 days in front of the mountain that was preventing water from reaching the valley. Exhausted, he finally fell asleep and when he woke up, the mountain had split in two and the water was flowing towards the valley. Since then, pilgrims have flocked every year from all over the Balkans, many on horseback.
