Corno alle Scale is the highest peak in the Bolognese Apennines, reaching 1,945 meters in altitude. Located entirely within the municipality of Lizzano in Belvedere, on the border between Emilia-Romagna and Tuscany, it owes its name to the characteristic stepped shape of its northern face. The area is known for being an important winter ski resort, a famous destination for summer hiking, and an icon of road cycling. It recently hosted the uphill finish of the ninth stage of the 2026 Giro d'Italia (won by champion Jonas Vingegaard).
