You can park along the gated R Branch logging road near Little Shaw Campsite on the north side of Cowichan Lake before continuing up the forestry road network toward Heather Mountain. Parking is informal with no facilities, and access conditions can change depending on active logging operations, washouts and gate closures along the surrounding roads.
