Gravel riding
At the end of the 20s, the city of Leer acquired the Julianenpark. A hurricane in 1972 changed the face of the park in a few hours. The forest was almost half destroyed, more than three-quarters of the older trees did not survive the storm.
But this catastrophe also had its good side!
There was an opportunity for redesign, and the once almost closed forest became a "real" park with landscape diversity. In addition, a large pond was created and, for some years now, also a dog meadow.
