Hiking

The Grenzhammer used to be a hammer mill that was operated with the help of the stream and the pond that was dammed up from it. Many bodies of water in the area were used industrially to operate rafts or mills. In the process, entire streams were changed, such as the Boxgraben near Fleckl.

Turning the crank yourself moves the hammer. Great for kids and the young at heart.

Hiking

The name of the district of Grenzhammer is reminiscent of the border that was important for centuries, dividing it politically, linguistically, denominationally and ethnically. Below Grenzhammer there is another column that bears the white-blue Bavarian rhombuses on one side and the black and white Hohenzollern coat of arms on the other. The Paschenweiher not far from Karches takes its name from an old smuggling route
