Wikipedia states, among other things: The bascule bridge, built in 1955, is a steel Dutch-style bridge. It replaced an earlier swing bridge. The construction was carried out by the MAN plant in Gustavsburg. Dutch-style bridges have counterweights mounted high above the ground.

The bridge has a clearance width of 19 meters and a roadway width of 6 meters. It opens in 47 seconds, 3,700 times per year, and daily as needed between 5:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m. In 2015, the bridge was renovated and its mechanism was modernized with a hydraulic system.
