"Spirits of the Emscher Valley" is an art project by Studio Orta for the Emscherkunstweg, which originally consisted of three sculptures. The works "Bird Woman" and "Totem with Magpie" were created through participatory processes with people from the Huckarde and Hörde districts in Dortmund to express the spirit of the new Emschertal. These sculptures were first installed at Phoenixsee and later moved to Emscher-Weg. They reflect the history and future of the Ruhr area.
