Shakespeare and Kronborg
Shakespeare made Kronborg the setting for his immortal play about the prince Hamlet, and outside of Denmark, the castle is primarily known today as Hamlet’s Castle. It is not known for certain whether Shakespeare ever visited Kronborg, but he certainly heard the rumors about the decadent lifestyle of the court. It is documented that English acting troupes visited Kronborg several times during Shakespeare's time.
