The Panna Mária (Immaculata) is a Baroque Marian column located in the historical center of Banská Štiavnica. The monument was erected in the 18th century as an expression of the inhabitants' religiosity and a thank you for protecting the town from epidemics and misfortunes.
At the top of the column is a statue of the Immaculate Virgin Mary, surrounded by decorations characteristic of the Baroque period. These types of columns were often erected in the cities of the former Kingdom of Hungary after the cessation of plague epidemics and other calamities.
