Paint Mountain Trail is steep and exposed, especially in the upper half, where it follows a cable cutline through the woods. The trail can be slippery after rain, and there isn't much shade along the way, except for the beginning segment in the forest. There are no official trail markers or blazes, but the trail is easy to follow.
