Hiking
The Hünstein rises on a patch of grass next to the kindergarten.
It is almost 2.80 meters high and weighs about 4 tons. It was likely erected by farmers of the Neolithic Wartberg culture (3500 to 2800 BC) for ritual purposes. The giant stone remained a landmark for millennia until a farmer deliberately buried it in his field in 1911. In 1932, local historian August Boley noticed it and re-erected it near its original location.
A plaque next to the Hünstein commemorates August Boley.
