There was once a castle on this site in Dalsheim. It was probably the manor house of the Counts of Leiningen from the 11th century onwards. From 1395 onwards, the castle served as the official residence of the Electorate of the Palatinate.
After several changes of ownership, it was destroyed in the War of the Palatinate Succession in 1689. The property was subsequently rebuilt as a palace. After 1798, when France ruled the area, the palace was destroyed again. All that remains is the estate manager's house, which today serves as a residential building.
