Operations ceased completely in 1998, and the building complex subsequently fell into disrepair, becoming a lost place.
Part of the building, including the distinctive roundhouse, is currently owned by Railsystems RP GmbH, a railway company based in Gotha. This area is fenced.
However, large parts of the RAW site remain undeveloped and dilapidated, including abandoned workshops and administrative buildings.
