The Cannon Valley Trail – Lake Byllesby Dam loop from Randolph Township offers a wonderfully varied road cycling experience, guiding you along the Cannon River through wetlands, past river bluffs, and around the scenic Lake Byllesby. This easy 18.7 miles (30.0 km) route, with its gentle 606 feet (185 metres) of elevation gain, provides a delightful journey through agricultural landscapes and under hardwood canopies, making for a pleasant 1 hours and 29 minutes ride.

To plan your visit, note that the trail begins from Randolph Township. If you're 18 or older and riding between April 1st and November 1st, you'll need to purchase a Wheel Pass for the Cannon Valley Trail section, which helps maintain this popular path. The fall season is particularly recommended for its vibrant foliage, offering a stunning backdrop to your ride.

This route incorporates a section of the Cannon Valley Trail, a designated National Recreation Trail built on a former railway line, ensuring a smooth and generally flat surface. It's renowned for its scenic beauty and offers opportunities to spot wildlife, including various turtle species in the Cannon River. The trail's connection to other local routes also expands your cycling options in the region.
