A Slavic settlement called "Oberferch" is said to have existed here almost 1,000 years ago. According to Wikipedia, two villages were mentioned in the place register of Emperor Charles IV's land register from 1375: "Verch superior" and "Verch inferior," i.e., a lower and an upper village. The lower village burned down completely in the 15th century and remained deserted for a long time. The former residents moved to the upper village, today's Old Village. However, not much remains of Ferch's original origins. Today, there are numerous weekend properties scattered throughout the Ferch forest area.
