😎Construction of the first line of the Halberstadt-Blankenburg Railway (HBE) began on July 28, 1870, and the main line was opened on March 31, 1873. On July 12, 1875, a 3 km long connecting track to the Blankenburger Hütte was added. Since operating as a main line caused high operating costs, the line was converted into a branch line in 1877. This meant that, among other things, numerous signalmen at level crossings could be saved.
