This easy trail offers a serene atmosphere perfect for a leisurely walk, taking about 30 minutes to complete with only 6 feet (2 metres) of elevation gain.

Planning your visit is straightforward, but remember to bring bug spray, as mosquitoes can be active, especially on humid days. The preserve is a great option for pet owners, as leashed dogs are welcome on the trails. While the trail is generally easy to navigate, some sections can be damp or bumpy after rain, so comfortable, appropriate footwear is a good idea.

Beyond the natural beauty, the D.J. Wilcox Preserve offers an interpretive nature trail with 14 stops detailing local flora and fauna, plus an observation tower for scenic views. Keep an eye out for various birds and even alligators around Gator Lake.
