The branch in Smolna was opened in 1967. The poet’s mother Anna Yuryevna, uncle Antos, sisters Mikhalina, Alena, brothers Vladya, Mikhas and Joseph lived in this place. The museum consists of two parts: memorial and literary. The memorial hut, where the poet’s brother Joseph Mickiewicz and his family lived for a long time, was museumized for the 90th anniversary of the birth of Yakub Kolas in 1972. The interior of the memorial hut was restored according to the memories of the poet’s relatives, preserving household items that were used by Yakub Kolas’ family.
