The specially constructed turbine channel (virtually created back then as a third arm of the Leine) was dammed, and turbines then supplied the factory with relatively environmentally friendly electricity. During the demolition of the wool mill, the Neue Heimat company dismantled the still-new turbines, sold them, and concreted over the turbine shafts. Later attempts to harness the water's energy again here at the turbine weir or at the neighboring large Leine weir have so far been unsuccessful.
