Like many other village churches, the Pleidelsheim Mauritiuskirche also has elements of Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque styles. Much has been changed and added over time.
The late Gothic nave of the hall church, west of the medieval choir tower of a former fortified church of Romanesque origin, with a sacristy on the north side, was built in 1586 according to a design by Georg Beer. The top floor of the choir tower contains the tower clock and the belfry.

The Mauritius Church is a choir tower church that was built between 1250 and 1350 and has the character of a fortified church. The unadorned 38 m high tower, which is covered with green-glazed bricks, is striking. The tip is adorned as a weather vane by a male figure who represents Saint Mauritius (namesake of the church).
