Maintained hut and perfect overnight spot for a multi-day tour over the Sierra Nevada. Attention: Food is available punctually at 8 p.m. (sometimes earlier in the darker season), and the hut can be booked out quickly in the summer months. In autumn or spring, however, it is rather tranquil. Tip: To be on the safe side, ask the Sierra Nevada Info-Line about the current opening times before the tour. There is 3.5 km off the main road and over 200m elevation loss to get to the Refugio. You will have to regain that on your next day. Something to keep in mind. You could continue on the main road and reach Caldera Refugio but there is no food or any services. Enjoy and respect.

Hiking
The Poqueira shelter has seven bedrooms with 100 beds. It is open all year round and has a restaurant service, shower, free kitchen, etc. Both to sleep and to eat there it is strictly necessary to book in advance.
