A parish was mentioned in documents in 1313 and 1431/1434. Around 1600 the church was a branch of St. Pölten and from 1781 it was a parish again.
The hall church, which is essentially Gothic, was modified in the 17th century in a post-Gothic style. The tower was destroyed in 1945 and rebuilt by 1954. The church was restored inside in 1983 and outside in 1985.
