The Rüttenscheid Market Fountain is located on the southwest corner of the Rüttenscheid Market Square; in the center of the fountain sits "The Market Woman under the Umbrella" on a column. This statue was created from bronze by the sculptor Adolf Wamper from Essen in 1955 (signed "WAMPER 1955"). According to Joachim Petsch (1 994), it is a "high-quality work of art in public space, typical of the time, which represents a market idyll."
