In the 19th and 20th centuries, until World War II, the castle belonged to the Church, and for some time also to the Government Horse Stud in Janów. During the war, the castle area was seriously devastated. After the war, the castle was taken over by the state and transferred to the Janów Stud. For a short period of time, a border guard unit operated in one of the outbuildings, and a tall antenna mast stood in the courtyard. Since the 1990s, the castle has been abandoned and has fallen into ruin.

The 40 ha Janów Castle complex will include: the Castle building with an added main body connecting the outbuildings, the rebuilt building of the old Cugowa Stable, which will house the SPA club, reconstructed historical ponds and a reservoir located on the western side of the complex, and a residential ward and a car park for a total of 180 cars and 4 coaches. The castle buildings, stables and the ward will be connected by an underground corridor leading from the conference centre under the courtyard.
