According to sources and historical evidence, it is probable that a small religious community of the Order of Franciscan Friars Minor already existed in the Moltedi area before the 15th century. However, it was the same order that founded a new settlement in the area where in ancient times there was a communication route, a mule track, which allowed the connection between the seaside village of Levanto and its immediate hinterland with the numerous historic centres. The church, as well as a first part of the convent complex, were therefore built between 1449 and 1460.

Hiking

The Church of the Santissima Annunziata was built in the 15th/16th century as part of a Franciscan monastery. After a partial collapse, the church was repaired and expanded in the 17th century. Renovations in the 1980s/90s restored it to its original form.
