When a steam train passed here for the first time in 1880, it was a cruel disturbance of the peace. During the construction of the track there was strong protest from the pastor. Reverend Theodorus van Gogh supported him in this. Their battle was ultimately lost in court, but under one condition: a maximum of 8 trains per day would pass by. Nowadays, approximately 8 trains pass by every hour.
