The second oldest land cross in Twente is located on the Lutterzandweg, near the intersection with the Mekkelhorsterstraat. The farmers of Mekkelhorst have gathered here since time immemorial to pray for good crops and to ask for protection against natural disasters and diseases. From this point on they prayed through the ash as 'vealdgaank' or 'amgang' during the Days of the Cross; the three days prior to Ascension Day.
