Mountain biking
When at the end of the 19th century it was decided to fortify the banks of the Strait to protect them from possible enemy incursions, 3 of the 24 Umbertine Fortifications (16 in the Peloritano territory and 8 in the Reggio area) designed on behalf of the General Staff of the Royal Italian Army, were built in hamlet of Matiniti, on the hills overlooking the town in the municipality of Campo Calabro. These are the Siacci Fort of Matiniti Superiore, the Matiniti Inferiore Fort and the Poggio Pignatelli Fort.
