Embark on a difficult hike along the Ney Springs and Faery Falls Trail, a 1.4-mile (2.3 km) route that guides you through a densely forested canyon. As you follow an old dirt road, you will hear Ney Springs Creek crashing over boulders beside you, creating a lively atmosphere. The trail leads you to the impressive 50-foot Faery Falls, a highlight of this journey. You will gain 286 feet (87 metres) in elevation, with an estimated duration of 43 minutes to complete the loop.
When planning your visit, be aware that the initial section of the road can be rough, so a high-clearance vehicle might be helpful if you choose to drive the first 0.4 to 0.5 miles to shorten your walk. The trail welcomes dogs, making it a great option for an outing with your canine companion. Remember to wear shoes with good traction, especially if you decide to venture onto the steeper side trails that lead directly to the base of Faery Falls.
This trail offers a unique blend of natural beauty and history within the Cantara/Ney Springs Wildlife Area. Beyond the captivating waterfall, you can explore the scattered ruins of the historic Ney Springs Resort. These remnants provide a fascinating glimpse into the past, nestled among evergreens and striking crag outcroppings, adding an intriguing layer to your outdoor adventure.
